About Ed
Edward Aczel is an award-winning stand-up comedian, actor and writer
For some time he has concentrated his attention as an actor – his credits in 2018 include parts in feature film “The Favourite” and series “The Crown”. He also appears in TV sitcom “Hold the Sunset” opposite John Cleese (a childhood ambition).
Ed’s film and television work also include roles in: Genius II (Picasso) (Amazon Prime), “David Brent Life on the Road”, Bafta winning “Morgana Robinsons Comedy Short” (Sky), “Lee and Dean” – where he is a returning character (C4), “Call the Midwife” (BBC), “Drunk History” (Dave) and “Common Ground” (Sky).
Ed is a highly respected and much-loved stand-up comedian. He has performed nine solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival.
Jimmy Carr (on BBC2’s Culture Show) named his debut show as “the funniest thing on the Fringe.”
In 2008 he won the prestigious Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality and has received praise from the press:
- Writer Zadie Smith was inspired to write a piece in the New Yorker from his 2008 show
- The Guardian recommending his critically acclaimed 2015 show “The Random Flapping of a Butterflies Wings”
- 4 star review in The Scotsman for 2017 show “Is Ed Aczel Infinite?”
- Interview in the Irish Times in advance of The Kilkenny Comedy Festival 2018
He continues to tour and appear at many comedy festivals throughout the UK and Ireland and has contributed to several radio shows including BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends, 28 Acts In 28 Minutes, Pick of The Week and Happy Mondays.
